The company-wide appeal was organised by Jane Price, who runs the Detica Give as You Earn scheme. Every year the company raises tens of thousands of pounds for local charities including the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Cherry Trees respite home for disabled children and the Jubilee Sailing Trust.

Jane explained. “This disaster was absolutely unparalleled in terms of scale so we offered staff the option make a special donation through the scheme. Our staff clearly felt the need to do something, dug deep and have surpassed themselves. We are delighted that the company decided to match their generosity pound for pound.”
